Discover Sailing 2026 at Dovestone Sailing Club

by Nik Lever 18 May 02:17 PDT 16 May 2026

On Saturday 16th May over 50 participants new to sailing enjoyed a 30 minute sail on the stunning beauty spot Dovestone Reservoir. This was part of the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Discover Sailing initiative and is an annual event.

The wind conditions were ideal for novice sailors but what little sun disappeared by midday. After the sail the novice sailors enjoyed refreshments included in the session price.

One participant, Danny Macmanus said, "I really enjoyed it and I would love to become a member and learn how to sail and progress. Everyone was really welcoming. I just live in the village so it's a great opportunity to try something different and sail up at Dovestones."
