After challenging conditions from the start and 350 miles of a course rich in tactical choices and breathtaking scenery, the 15th edition of the Armen Race concluded on Sunday, May 17th. 644 sailors representing 176 clubs from France and Europe set sail on May 14th from Quiberon Bay.
Armen Night - 160 Miles
On the 160-mile course, the first boat to cross the finish line under full sail was Akela, skippered by Hervé d'Arexy.
Brittany J (Fournier le Ray) won on corrected time in the Osiris class. It finished ahead of PL Yachting and Just a Rabbit (Ivan Kounakowitch).
In IRC, Yann Brodin's Blackayne achieved a double victory: he crossed the finish line first and won on corrected time. His two competitors, Emoji (Philippe Doucet) and Esprit de Rueil (Pierre Favennec), were unable to challenge and finished second and third respectively.
Armen Race — 350 miles
IRC 1 — Olivier Magre, accompanied by Didier le Vourch, Bleiz Larzul, Simon Koster, Hugues Destremau, Edouard Alikiagalelei, Olivier Bonnefoix, and Victor Lagueste, aboard the Mach 50 Leclerc Ville la Grand, was the first to cross the finish line across all classes after 1 day, 9 hours, 0 minutes, and 54 seconds of racing. He also secured the IRC 1 victory on corrected time, confirming his status as the overwhelming favorite. Sidney Gavignet's Le Cigare Rouge finished third on corrected time, behind Stamina Sailing Team, skippered by Charlie Ageneau.
IRC 2 — Marc Alperovitch and his crew took the win in both real time and corrected time on Timeline, finishing more than two hours ahead of their closest competitor. A clear victory in the JPK 1080 class, ahead of two JPK 1010s: Eric Bastard's Ishsha and Basile Marie's Tigre Blanc.
IRC Double — The first boat to cross the finish line in this class was Eurvad, the Open 50 skippered by Tanguy Caradec and Antoine Carpentier. On corrected time, the podium consisted of Mécanique Expertises (Gérard Quenot / Luc Fourichon), JIB (Bastien Guelton / Jean Laborde), and Pencoat (Pierre Bigot / Yann Bettler).
IRC Solo — Only two competitors completed the 350-mile race. Alain Duvivier on Hagat won by a comfortable margin, crossing the finish line first and taking the corrected time victory, ahead of Olivier Marc on Emeop, who also sailed well.
Class40 — The battle for victory was intense throughout the race. At the finish line, only 15 minutes separated the top two. Bleu Blanc Planète Location (Quentin Le Nabour / Thierry Chabagny) edged out Patapain - Les Invincibles (William Mathelin Moreaux / Pietro Luciani / Alexis Loison) after a thrilling contest. Plastic Odyssey (Jules Bonnier and Valentin Lemarchand) completed the top three.
Osiris — Canhabaque, skippered by Erik le Roy and his ever-competitive crew, was once again the first to cross the finish line. However, it was Botez Coat 6 (Ronan Dervieux) who took the corrected time victory. He also won the Armen Race Trophy, awarded to the first boat with corrected time in the largest class. The podium was completed by Maout Lec'h (Luc Mouton) and Loly M (Cédric Meunier).
Multi 2000 — The only representative of its class at the start, Rayon Vert (Oren Nataf) completed the 350 miles without incident and logically claimed the class victory.
Sun Fast 30 OD — Three boats started, only one finished: Irus, skippered by Fabrice Sorin and François Lucas, reached La Trinité-sur-Mer after 2 days, 11 hours, and 18 minutes of racing.
