The start of the 7th edition of La Trinité-Cowes by Actual, organized by the Société Nautique de La Trinité-sur-Mer (SNT), was given this Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
The 67 competing crews will battle for two to three days along the Atlantic and English Channel coasts over a 350-mile course. Competitors will have four course marks to round: La Teignouse, La Plate, and the Four and Needles lighthouses before arriving in Cowes. An intermediate checkpoint will be taken at the Four lighthouse.
The fleet set off from Quiberon Bay in 25 knots of wind, and this is just the beginning of a crossing that promises to be demanding. Competitors will encounter gusts of up to 30 knots, and those who best manage their chances are expected to arrive Tuesday morning in Cowes, Isle of Wight. Strategy will once again be key, as the race unfolds between Brittany, the English Channel, and the Solent.
At 6:00 p.m., Patrick Isoard, solo on his Imoca Uship for Enfants du Mékong, leads the fleet alongside two Multi 2000s: Laurent Etheimer's Aile Bleue and Xavier Bouin's Tan. An hour after the start, the entire fleet has left Quiberon Bay and is heading back up towards the Plate.
La Trinité-Cherbourg by Actual is organized by the Société Nautique de La Trinité-sur-Mer (SNT). Created in 2018 by the SNT, La Trinité-Cowes by Actual is a 2025 IRC Championship event (crew and double-handed), qualifying for the 2026 Cap Martinique and counting towards the RORC Championship.
The awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, July 3rd at 5:30 pm at the RORC clubhouse in Cowes. The La Trinité-Cowes by Actual Trophy will be awarded to the first IRC in all classes on corrected time.
