iQFOiL Youth & Junior International Games at Torbole, Lake Garda - Day 1

by iQFOiL Class Association 4 May 12:17 PDT 4-9 May 2026

A perfect start in Torbole for the iQFOiL International Games Youth & Junior, which began today on Lake Garda Trentino and will run through Saturday, May 9th.

The event, organized by Circolo Surf Torbole on behalf of the Italian Sailing Federation, in cooperation with the International iQFOiL Youth & Junior Class Association, opened the international week dedicated to the young specialists of Olympic windsurfing with a highly productive first day on the water.

The participation confirms the strong technical and international level of the event, with 180 athletes from 21 nations: Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Spain, Estonia, France, Great Britain, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Singapore, Switzerland, Sweden, Chinese Taipei and the United States. France and Italy are the most represented nations, highlighting both the competitive level on the water and the growing interest in a class that has successfully engaged youth sailors since its early development.

The opening day immediately delivered ideal conditions. A classic "Ora" breeze (southerly thermal wind) filled in across the racecourse with an average of 13-15 knots, with gusts up to 20 knots, allowing the Race Committee to complete four Course Races for the Youth fleets and three for the Junior fleets. A very positive start, enabling the fleet to get straight into competitive rhythm and allowing the Race Committee to make full use of the favorable weather window, ahead of a forecast deterioration in the coming days and more uncertain wind conditions.

After the first day of racing, Gustaw Trybek (POL) leads the Under 19 Men's fleet with 4 net points, followed by Louan Gouault (FRA) in second with 8 points and compatriot Titouan Dizet (FRA) in third, three points further back. In the Under 19 Women's fleet, Salomé Simon (FRA) takes the early lead with 3 net points, ahead of Garance Chatelier-Daisay (FRA) in second with 6 points, while Vittoria Marconi (ITA) of Vela LNI Civitavecchia sits in third with 9 points.

Among the Under 17 Men, Moritz Schleicher (GER) makes the strongest start, leading with 2 net points, followed by Frantisek Burda (CZE) in second with 4 points and Tymon Wrzesinski (POL) in third with 6 points. In the Under 17 Women's fleet, it is a Polish one-two at the top, with Michelle Urzykowski (POL) leading on 3 net points ahead of Kalina Szostek (POL), tied on points but second on countback. Anna Jannieke Korevaar (NED) is third, two points behind.

The first warning signal for tomorrow is scheduled for 13:00.
