DF95 Eastern District Series Round 1 at Norwich Model Yacht Club

by Duncan Ellis 20 Apr 22:13 PDT 18 April 2026

Saturday 18th April saw fifteen DF95 sailors from 5 clubs turn up at Whitlingham to do battle in the first round of the DF95 Eastern District series.

The forecast for the day was a moderate breeze from the West and a spot of sunshine - Perfect!

Vinnie Zammit and his team were in charge of the day's events and got the day under way after the usual welcome and briefing.

The breeze predominantly was from the west as forecast but certainly kept the competitors on there toes as it would veer north and then back again from time to time!

The course stayed the same all day which was a bit of a first for a NMYC open with the breeze always returning to the forecast westerly direction within each race.

The fleet sailed in a single fleet with 16 races being completed.

The race wins through the day were shared between Buzz Coleman, Hayden Wallace, Oliver Knowland, Neil Webb and Mike Taylor.

Score wise Buzz was in fine form finishing on 20 points followed by the young Hayden on 46 points and Oliver on 54 points.

Next is the turn of Coalhouse Fort RYC for the next round in the Eastern District a bit later in the year.
