Official Statement - Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race

by Kerrin Schallmeiner 4 Apr 17:59 AEDT 4 April 2026

The Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race Committee advises that a protest was lodged involving Back 2 Black, the provisional winner of the IRC Courier Mail Cup in the 78th Gladstone Ports Corporation Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race.

Following a hearing by the Protest Jury, a decision has now been reached.

Principal Race Officer Ross Chisholm confirmed: "The skipper acknowledged the error. While unfortunate, the rules are clear. The yacht did not sail the correct course and has been disqualified."

Final results for the IRC Courier Mail Cup are still being finalised and will be released once all results are confirmed.
