The International Paint Poole Regatta committee are delighted to announce that Janet Grosvenor, Admiral of the Royal Ocean Racing Club, will be a guest of honour at the 2026 regatta prize-giving.

Taking place on the 25th May at Royal Motor Yacht Club, after what is shaping up to be a highly competitive weekend of yacht racing, Janet will present the unique Poole Regatta Trophies to the class winners as well as the historic Canford Cup to the overall regatta winner.

With the RORC IRC European Championship 2026 being an integral part of this year's event, it is fitting for a living RORC legend to take a key role in celebrating the achievements of the weekend. Janet has a long history with RORC, having joined the club as Membership Secretary in the same year as Woodstock and the first moon landing. Her first decades with the club saw the rise and eventual fall of IOR and the Admiral's Cup, which was at one point the pinnacle event in international yacht racing.

Her work for the club covered a wide variety or roles, becoming a key part of the race team alongside totting up considerable time on the water to meet the requirements for RORC membership. In 2000 Janet became the RORC's Racing Manager, a position she held until 2007 when she officially retired. With sailing in her DNA Janet has continued in an advisory capacity running various special projects and was appointed the club's first female Admiral in 2025.

The International Paint Poole Regatta takes place from the 23rd to 25th May with an extra day of racing for the RORC IRC European Championship on Friday 22nd. With regular competitor reviews describing the regatta as one of the most inclusive and welcoming in the UK it is a great way to kick start the sailing season. Over fifteen class starts mean that racing is always competitive and closely fought on the water no matter what yacht you sail.

Off the water, nightly social events provide a great opportunity to meet other yacht crew and enjoy the renowned Poole Regatta hospitality.
