by iQFOiL Class Association 9 Mar 14:48 PDT 7-13 March 2026

The 2026 iQFOiL International Games #2 got under way today in El Puerto de Santa María, with more than 160 sailors representing 34 nations gathering in Cádiz for a week of high-level windfoil racing.

The event is organized by the Federación Andaluza de Vela in co-operation with the International iQFOiL Class Association, by delegation of the Real Federación Española de Vela and the Consejo Superior de Deportes. The regatta welcomes both the Senior and Youth & Junior fleets, marking the first event of the season for the Youth & Junior class.

Day One began with light conditions, with a little waiting ashore, but the breeze gradually filled in during the afternoon, allowing the Race Committee to complete four Course Races for all six fleets.

In the Senior Women's fleet, Katerina Svikova (CZE) leads the provisional ranking after the opening day, followed closely by fellow Czech sailor Kristýna Pinosová (CZE). Local Olympic athlete Pilar Lamadrid (ESP) sits in third place.

The Senior Men's fleet is currently led by Brazilian Olympian Mateus Isaac (BRA) after a solid and consistent first day. Onur Cavit Biriz (TUR) holds second place, with Rytis Jasunas (LTU) completing the provisional podium.

In the U19 Women's division, Salomé Simon (FRA) tops the standings after the first four races. Lucia Guardiola Beltran (ESP), representing the local YC Puerto Sherry, sits in second place, while another French sailor, Thea Le Borgne Zibetti (FRA), holds third.

Spain also leads the U19 Men's fleet, where Jorge Ruiz Lopez (ESP) takes the top spot at the end of Day 1. Two promising Dutch sailors follow closely behind, with Peyton Dits (NED) in second and Finn Brüll (NED) in third.

The U17 Women's fleet is led by Parla Kabasakal (TUR), ahead of Anna Jannieke Korevaar (NED) in second and Maria Miarczynska (POL) in third place.

In the U17 Men, Enric Patino Riutord (ESP) tops the leaderboard after the opening races, followed by Swann Manhaval (FRA) in second and Gonzalo Ruiz Mendez (ESP) in third.

With four races already completed and sailors from across the globe competing in the waters of Cádiz, the 2026 iQFOiL International Games #2 promise an exciting week of racing ahead as the fleets continue to battle for the top positions in both the Senior and Youth & Junior divisions.
