World's best kitesurfers kick off 2026 GKA Kite-Surf season in Cape Verde's Sal Island

The 2026 GKA Kite-Surf season once again opens in the iconic point break of Cape Verde's Sal Island, with the title race set to be tighter than ever as it plays out over a scheduled five globe-trotting stops.

A full line-up of 24 men and an expanding roster of women, with 18 athletes, from a total of 13 countries around the world are set to battle for glory in the intimidating right-hander of Ponta Preta that.

In the women's, the favorites will be last year's World Champion Capucine Delannoy from France, overall runner-up Kesiane Rodrigues and third Serena Luz, both from Brazil. In the men's, reigning World Champion Pedro Matos won't be competing in Cape Verde so this opens the door for Airton Cozzolino (ITA) and Brazilian Gabriel Benetton to start the season strong. After 4 days the first 2 rounds were done and the fights for the finals starts.
