Medway RC Laser Club Winter Series - Day 7

by Jamie Blair 1 Feb 11:17 PST 1 February 2026

Six out to compete in round 7 with SSE 6 to 10 knots. This wind provided a great course in front of the car park and café. The rain didn't deter but with the changing clouds overhead the wind direction had us all guessing which side paid up the beats.

A mixture of race winners over the twelve race session. Tony Alexander (04) scored wins in the first and last races. Tim Townsend (45) had his wins scattering over the whole session and would have possibly been more if a number of contacts at the start line hadn't either kyboshed his plans or given rise to penalty turns.

Other race wins came from Jamie Blair (51) either side of the break, even with his sail only held up by the gooseneck after the mast punctured the headboard - great for the downwind.

Jon Moon grabbed a race win in race six and kept up his mid fleet position but always close with the leaders. Roger Gib (32) and Bob Woolford (76) had a mixed day. Roger's consolation - a second in race 2 and Bob a fourth in race 7.

Competition was intense throughout the session and after 4 races Tim and Tony were on equal points. At the break Jamie led the pack but on equal points with Tim and Tony only one point behind them.

Tim took the overall lead after race 10 and never looked back leaving Jamie and Tony to dual for second. Countback was needed to resolve second with Jamie having more race wins to separate the two.

A fine morning and after race 12 the wind died completely with the onset of rain.

The next meet is 8th of February. Usual start at 10am.
