The 38th America's Cup Match will begin on July 10, 2027 from Naples, and is expected to conclude by the following weekend.

No formal media release is available however the event has posted the start date on their social media channel.

Two races are planned to be sailed on July 10, 2027 the expectation is that the series will end on the weekend of July 17-18. However that is dependent on whether the Naples venue is wind willing.

The planned dates clash with the 2027 Admiral's Cup set down for 13–15 July 2027, for registration with the racing period from July 16-28.

The announcements were being made at Palazzo Reale di Napoli.

Italian media reported that "four hundred accredited attendees, along with one hundred journalists, with a significant international presence. Hosting the event will be the Mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, along with Minister of Sport Abodi, CEO of Sport and Health Nepi Molineris, and President of the Campania Region, Roberto Fico."

In an interview with top America's Cup journalist Fabio Pozzo writing in Milan-based newspaper, La Stampa, Giulio Bertelli, the second son of Patrizio Bertelli and Miuccia Prada has been appointed vice president of the team and will be the de facto representative of the family on the pitch, with Patrizio Bertelli still serving as president and founder. His brother Lorenzo, more interested in car rallying, will work alongside Patrizio in the Prada group.

"I was a professional sailor," Giulio told La Stampa. "I was a full-time sailor, in many teams, for fifteen years of my life (in the Ocean Race, for example, the round-the-world race in stages), now a little less. I also worked at Luna Rossa. I still do so now, as vice president. However, I don't work in the family group, where my brother, who will be the future CEO of Prada, is based."

He last sailed with Team Biotherm Racing in The Ocean Race 2022-23, and previously as a trimmer/helmsman with teams such as AkzoNobel Ocean Racing.

"My father sees Luna Rossa as a fundamental asset for the company and the group," he said of Luna Rossa's future. "And my brother Lorenzo is also keen to ensure this vision is not undermined. So, even without my father, we will continue with the team. Luna Rossa is here, regardless. Which I think is incredibly important for Italian sailing, for the company, for us. My father may have passed on his passion for sailing more directly to me than to my brother, but Lorenzo and I will be here together. Luna Rossa will continue."

Last week it was announced that Cagliari, Sardinia would host the first Preliminary Regatta from 21 to 24 May 2026. The dates of the other two Preliminary were expected to be announced, but nothing was forthcoming, or even if there will be any preliminary event using AC75s. Italian media tipped that two further events will be held in 2027, in Naples.

Several media releases have been issued earlier today relating to the 38th America's Cup, including the rebranding of the British team now known as GB1. Emirates Airline confirmed an extension to their 20 year naming sponsor relationship with Emirates Team New Zealand.
