St Vincent and the Grenadines continued its growing presence in regional junior sailing by sending two sailors to the Barbados Sailing Week Junior Regatta for the second consecutive year.

The regatta took place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th January in Carlisle Bay, Barbados and featured 24 junior sailors competing in 10 races over two days.

Representing St Vincent and the Grenadines were Kai Marks-Dasent, 15, and Joshua Weinhardt, 13, both sailors delivered outstanding performances.

Weinhardt claimed first place in the ILCA 4 fleet, showcasing skill, determination and composure across all races.

Marks-Dasent secured an impressive second-place finish in the ILCA 6 fleet, demonstrating consistency and strong race strategy throughout the regatta.

These results reflect the continued development of junior sailing in St Vincent and the Grenadines and highlight the dedication of the sailors, coaches and supporters involved in the program. Participation in regional regattas such as the Barbados Sailing Week Junior Regatta provides invaluable experience and exposure for young athletes as they progress in the sport.

This achievement would not have been possible without the generous support of InterCaribbean Airways, Island Sipz and the St Vincent and the Grenadines Olympic Committee, whose continued backing plays a vital role in the development of junior sailing in the country.

St Vincent and the Grenadines looks forward to building on this success and continuing to support junior sailors on the regional and international stage.
