Stunning Beau Outteridge photos and full results from the huge fleets racing at Belmont 16s Sailing Club.
Ben Bruniges, President of the Australian Skiff Association, said about the event:
"This is one of the strongest fleets we've seen, with 72 16ft skiffs and 31 13ft skiffs entered.
"We're particularly pleased with the number of female skippers and crew competing — including 28 female entries across both classes."
Bruniges also praised the actions of race officials and volunteers during the Sunday invitation race:
"The race committee made the call to shorten the course due to the approaching storm cells, which allowed most of the fleet to reach shore safely. Once the storm arrived, there was a strong team effort from competitors and volunteers to secure boats and equipment."
Despite the challenging start, championship racing commenced on Monday morning, with nine races scheduled across the week. Forecast conditions are expected to moderate mid-week before strengthening again toward the weekend.
