BIA and member business Marina Bayside in Southern Sydney played host last week to a successful Careers Day, bringing together industry leaders, educators and local students to shine a spotlight on the diverse opportunities within the marine industry.
The event welcomed 20 students from four local schools, offering them a unique chance to connect directly with professionals and gain insights into the career pathways available in our industry.
The marine industry is a vital part of Australia's economy and lifestyle, and ensuring its future means engaging with the next generation. By connecting schools with industry, Careers Day helps:
- Bridge the gap between education and employment
- Showcase career pathways in training, apprenticeships and marine services
- Encourage local talent to stay engaged with opportunities close to home
Events like this highlight the importance of collaboration between schools and industry to inspire students and ensure the sector continues to thrive.
BIA acknowledges and applauds Mike Schlesinger and the team at Marina Bayside for hosting the event supported by BIA's Membership Programs Manager Shane Wilson. Special appreciation also goes to the industry representatives who generously shared their expertise and time:
- Andrew Stubbs - Onboard Engineering
- Cory Hillsley - Yamaha Academy
- Simon Rodgers - TAFE NSW
- Alanah Horhan - MEGT
Shane Wilson said, "The BIA Careers Day was more than just an event - it was a step toward building stronger connections between schools, students and the marine sector."
