Watched over by San Francisco's iconic Golden Gate Bridge, the RS Tera North American Championship 2025 took place October 25-26 at St. Francis Yacht Club, bringing together 43 sailors for a lively weekend of racing on the bay.

Competitors from 13 yacht clubs across the United States took part, with local representation from Richmond Yacht Club, Sausalito Yacht Club and Monterey Peninsula Yacht Club joining the host club. Other East Coast representatives included Los Angeles sailors from Alamitos Bay Yacht Club (hosts of the 2024 RS Tera North Americans), alongside teams from Long Beach Yacht Club and Santa Monica Windjammers Yacht Club.

SYC, WYC, DQYC and Fishing Bay sailors also joined in the fun, as well as lake sailors from Utah's Park City Sailing Association (hosts of the 2023 RS Tera North Americans). There were even some West Coast sailors making the 4800km journey from Cedar Point Yacht Club in Connecticut!

Felix Weidling, Race Director at St Francis Yacht Club, commented: "I was truly pleased with the strong turnout at the RS Tera North Americans. The conditions were challenging, especially on Sunday. That's why we sailed as many races as possible on Saturday. By the evening, there were many tired faces at the buffet - a sign of a full and active day on the water.

On Sunday, we completed the remaining races, and all boats were safely ashore before the weather front passed through with strong winds and heavy rain."

It was club domination in both fleets with Alamitos Bay Yacht Club sailors lining the podium in the Sport Fleet and Richmond YC sailors leading the way in the Pro Fleet.

Defending his 2024 title, Jack Brodsky once again claimed Gold in the RS Tera Sport Fleet, with Violet Aguilar in Silver and Blake Brodsky in Bronze - separated by just a single point in the final standings.

In the RS Tera Pro Fleet, Kaelin Baggeroer secured Gold, followed by Hailey Anderson with Silver and Skylar Dubuc taking Bronze. See the full results here.

Held alongside the 2025 Fall Dinghy Championship, the RS Tera fleet was the largest turnout of the six fleets racing - with 29 entries in the Sport Fleet and 14 in the Pro Fleet. Youth sailors shared the racing in the bay and socialising onshore alongside RS Fevas (8 entries), 505s (9), 29ers (12), ILCA 6 (10), ILCA 7 (9), c420 (21).

The RS Tera North American Class Association recognises the hard work of the organisers, volunteers, race committee, coach boats for making this championship possible. Charter boats were supplied by RS Sailing's North American distributers, Zim Sailing and West Coast Sailing, and photographs are available from Langdon Junge.

As Felix concluded: "We'd like to extend our sincere thanks to our sponsors - especially Fairtide and Zim Sailing in partnership with West Coast Sailing, and photographs are available from Langdon Junge.

As Felix concluded: "We'd like to extend our sincere thanks to our sponsors - especially Fairtide and Zim Sailing in partnership with West Coast Sailing. Without their support, an event of this calibre would not have been possible."

US sailors are already looking ahead to an exciting line-up of future events, with the 2026 RS Games in Germany standing out as a major highlight. This huge celebration of RS classes - held only once every four years - will open with the RS Tera World Championship, featuring four days of racing from July 18-21, 2026. Jon Partridge, Managing Director at RS Sailing, shared his enthusiasm: "Congratulations to all the sailors who competed in the RS Tera North Americans! It's inspiring to see so many young sailors from across the United States racing hard and forming lifelong friendships along the way. The RS Family in Europe can't wait to welcome sailors from around the world to experience the ultimate celebration of RS Sailing at the 2026 RS Games - we'd love to see you there!"
