The IFCA European Championships Slalom Fin & Foilcontinue in the best possible way in Torbole, hosted by the Circolo Surf Torbole in collaboration with IFCA and under the authority of the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV).
Contrary to forecasts, the wind on Day 3 did not build as strongly as expected, so the Race Committee decided to continue the championship with the foil discipline, taking advantage of a beautiful sunny day and a steady 12-knot breeze. Two more eliminations were completed in the Men's Foil and six additional races for the Women's fleet, bringing the total number of women's races to twelve (run in a single heat due to a smaller fleet).
In the overall standings, Johan Søe (DEN 37) of Denmark remains in the lead after being granted redress (RDG) for damage sustained during the semifinal of today's first race.
He now holds a 6.6-point lead over Jordy Vonk (NED 69) from the Netherlands, with Mathis Alexis (FRA 997) from France in third place.
Just off the podium sits Fabian Wolf (GER 404), while Matthijs Pos (NED 318), the best Youth competitor, holds sixth place overall. Best Italian performance so far for Giacomo Barro (ITA 215) from Lombardy, currently seventh overall.
In the Women's Foil division, Justine Lemeteyer (FRA 171) continues to lead thanks to her consistent results, despite Lina Eržen (SLO 51) from Slovenia winning the last two races of the day, narrowing the gap to just over seven points.
Blanca Alabau (ESP 3) from Spain remains in third place. After three days of sunshine, steady winds, and top-level racing, the championship once again confirms Garda Trentino as one of the most reliable and spectacular venues for international windsurfing.
Racing will continue through Sunday, October 19, with forecasts predicting more southerly winds for the final weekend of competition.
