Musto Skiff Class 2025 Highlights and What's Ahead for 2026

It's been a good year for the Musto Skiff class, kicking off with the World Championships in Sydney and rolling through a packed calendar of racing and training across Europe and Australia.
Championship Successes
The 2025 season opened in style with 39 boats from six nations competing at the ACO 14th Musto Skiff World Championship in Sydney. South African sailor Andy Tarboton claimed his first Worlds Title in the Musto Skiff after a hard-fought regatta against the backdrop of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The event also doubled up as the 2025 Australian Nationals, with former World Champion Matthias Houvenagel winning the AUS Nationals Title as the first Australian boat to top the leaderboard.
The class then had another opportunity for some regatta racing in July with the 2025 European Championship, which was hosted at Warnemünde Woche in northern Germany. This time, it was British sailor Eddie Bridle who took the win - his first Title in the Musto Skiff. Eddie followed this up with another Title win by topping the leaderboard at the recent Musto Skiff UK Nationals.
Continuing the class's strong ties with Musto, Eddie was also named a Musto Brand Ambassador this season. Joining Eddie as an ambassador are Swiss sailor Alex Greil representing the rest of the fleets in Europe, and Jono Neate, representing Australia. Busy Calendar, Strong Fleets
From summer circuits in Australia and winter training in the UK to a packed calendar of circuit events across Europe, Musto Skiff sailors have had no shortage of events and opportunities to get out sailing this year.
The European calendar alone featured 26 regattas across five countries, as well as extra training weekends, including the popular Lake Como training week led by Alex Greil. This was all in addition to this year's Nationals, Worlds, and European Championships. A similar calendar is also being planned for next season.
Class Committee Changes
2025 saw several committee changes for the Musto Skiff class. Brennan Robinson became International Chairman in February after Danny Boatman stepped down. This was followed by Jono Neate becoming the Australian Class President after Paul Newman handed over the role at the close of the season.
In the UK, Euan Hurter was recently elected as the new GBR Class Chairman, taking over from Bill Maughan, who stepped down in September due to new family commitments. Tom Scott has also recently taken over as Southern Circuit Events Co-ordinator in the UK, replacing Mark Cooper.
Looking Ahead to 2026
Coming up next for the Musto Skiff sailors is their Annual Class Survey. This is due to launch in early November, with a key focus on the small mainsail X trial. The survey is an opportunity to give feedback on wider class activities and events, and this year, class members will be invited to vote through the survey on how they would like to see the small mainsail X being integrated going forward.

As the class looks ahead to next season, the big event on the horizon is the ACO 15th Musto Skiff World Championship, which is confirmed for 6-12 June 2026 at Yacht Club De Carnac, France. The class will then return to Lake Garda for the 2027 Worlds in Torbole, Italy.
