Avikus, HD Hyundai's specialized Autonomous Navigation Technology subsidiary, has announced that is has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ZF Group to integrate its NEUBOAT Navi with Control Autonomous System with ZF's TotalCommand systems.

According to the terms of the MOU, Avikus will use ZF's open protocol for its marine controllers to integrate with its NEUBOAT Navi with Control system to provide both A.I. and autonomous control features such as collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control and auto docking. Following the integration, Avikus' award-winning systems will be completely compatible with ZF's controllers across all OEMs, dealers and customers.

"ZF is known around the world for its products from transmissions and thrusters to complete electronic control systems," said Do-Hyeong Lim, CEO of Avikus. "With the help of ZF, boaters are given ultimate control on the water. And we're excited to begin working with ZF engineers to make that control on the water even more accessible and safe using Avikus' autonomous technology and convenience."

Avikus' NEUBOAT Navi with Control system teams up with the NEUBOAT Navi and Dock systems to provide real-time information and calculated automated adjustments during navigation on the water or during the docking process. Quite simply, it takes the guesswork out of navigating and docking using advanced sensors to detect and categorize objects on the water and calculate distance from the vessel. This information provides operators with unmatched situational awareness and assists navigators with making the safest and most efficient decisions while maneuvering.

ZF's TotalCommand propulsion control family integrates the latest CAN-bus communication technology with multi-function control heads to accommodate up to six stations. Its advanced communication automatically synchronizes engines in all modes, without the need for dedicated buttons or switches. Overall, TotalCommand provides users with unprecedented control and precision with smooth shifting and seamless transitions between operating modes.
