Haderslev-based yacht builder X-Yachts can now proudly call itself World Champion in sailing. The newly developed XR 41 Formula X secured the 2025 ORC World Championship title in Class B this August in Tallinn, Estonia — clinching victory even before the final race.
Just 18 months ago, X-Yachts set itself a bold target: to design and build a yacht capable of winning the ORC Worlds. That vision has now been realized.
"It was an ambitious goal - and far from everyone believed it could be done. But we believed in our mission - and we delivered. This victory is not only a tribute to the sailors on the water, but also to the tremendous effort our employees have put into the development, construction, and production of the XR 41," says X-Yachts CEO, Kræn B. Nielsen.
The result underlines X-Yachts' strength: not only did Formula X, skippered by Jesper Radich, take the championship, but XR 41s also claimed both second place (DIXI 5, helmed by Erik Stannow) and fourth place (EXCITER, helmed by Jens Kuphal) in a fleet of 22 yachts.
"This shows that it wasn't just about our racing team's skill — the boat's design and capabilities clearly hold world-class potential," adds Kræn B. Nielsen.
The X-Yachts Racing Team has been followed by a videographer throughout the championship, with a documentary series soon to be released on the company's official YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/@XyachtsOfficial/videos
