On June 24, NMMA joined 29 leading industry associations in a letter to U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick advocating for revisions to the Department of Commerce's implementation of Section 232 tariffs on steel, aluminum and related derivative products.

The letter emphasizes the need for a more transparent and targeted approach to avoid unintended harm to U.S. manufacturing, including the $230 billion recreational boating industry.

NMMA Canada wrapped another highly successful Day on the Hill in Ottawa last month, bringing together industry leaders, government officials, and policymakers to advance priorities critical to Canada's recreational boating sector. The central message this year was clear: the luxury tax is harming Canadian manufacturing and putting middle-class jobs at risk—and it must be repealed.

July is predicted to be a relatively quiet month on the Atlantic and Gulf coasts from a flooding perspective, with no locations forecast to have flooding. On the West Coast, flooding is possible in the southern California harbors of San Diego, La Jolla, Los Angeles, and Santa Monica. The Hawaiian Islands will also see the possibility of flooding in all harbors, and flooding is likely on the island of Kauai. Mean sea level is typically higher in the summertime due to changing weather patterns and rising water temperatures, and higher tides (and also lower low tides) should be expected on and around the full moon, on July 10, and the new moon, on July 24.

A rising tide of opportunities for boat crews and brokers to connect, from one-on-one meet-and-greets to USVI-style social events, is what makes the 2025 USVI Charter Yacht Show a 'must-attend' industry event. Set for November 7-10, 2025, the Virgin Islands Professional Charter Associations (VIPCA)-hosted show will once again be held at IGY's Yacht Haven Grande, St. Thomas, an unprecedented five-time winner of the prestigious International Superyacht Marina of the Year title.
