On 30th June, during the Expo 2025 Osaka, the Italian Marine Industry Association will present a preview of the 65th Genoa International Boat Show, the Mediterranean's largest event and third largest boat show in the world.

The Japanese presentation marks a key step forward, not only as a symbol for the sector's internationalisation strategy but in an operational sense, with the aim of consolidating the Genoa International Boat Show's role as a world-class platform from which to promote and support Made in Italy production, connecting companies, innovations, markets, and industrial culture. The event is part of the Liguria Week, taking place at the Italian Pavilion, an opportunity to affirm Italy's global leadership in the boating sector and showcase the value of its supply chain.

The Boating Industry: Strategic excellence made in Italy

In 2023 the sector recorded a record global turnover of €8.33 billion (+13.6% on 2022), with exports exceeding €4.3 billion, reaching an all-time high. Italy is the world leader in superyacht production (>24m), with over 50% of all global orders Made in Italy, and equally world leader in the production of inflatable boats, components and engines.

With an export rate of 90% and over 200,000 jobs, the Italian boating industry represents a supply chain that can boast a steep economic multiplier, an industrial heritage that fuels innovation, work and added value in the territories.

The Genoa International Boat Show: A global hub for business and innovation

Organised by the Italian Marine Industry Association - Confindustria Nautica, the Genoa International Boat Show has been the world's reference point for the entire sector for the past 65 years. The only Italian exhibition in the IFBSO circuit, the Genoa Boat Show is Italy's second most economically impactful national exhibition after Milan's Salone del Mobile.

Every year, according to an analysis carried out by Nielsen, the Genoa International Boat Show generates between 65 and 70 million Euros in the span of just a few days and attracts industry operators and press from over 30 countries and 5 continents. The Genoa Boat Show is a honed tool of industrial policy, far more than just a showcase, because it stimulates investment, drives sustainability and promotes permanent open dialogue between companies and institutions.

"With its presentation at Expo Osaka, the Genoa International Boat Show, organised by the Italian Marine Industry Association, continues in its role as an ambassador of the Made in Italy brand across the world and of the industrial value of the boating sector," comments Alessandro Gianneschi, Italian Marine Industry Association's Vice President responsible for promoting Made in Italy production, who will be representing the Association in Japan. For 65 editions, the Genoa International Boat Show has promoted and supported the boating industry, thanks to its specific nature as a supply chain event, designed and organised by the Italian Marine Industry Association, an Association of Companies for Companies, and has fostered such an exceptionally positive trend over the last twenty years, accompanying the sector's businesses on a journey defined by growth and excellence".

From 18th to 23rd September 2025, the Genoa Boat Show will take place in the new Levante Waterfront venue, designed by star architect Renzo Piano, which will see the marine area and indoor sports arena fully completed. A truly unique location in the world in terms of concept, the new waterfront, and Genoa Boat Show venue, represents the first exhibition infrastructure designed specifically for the boating sector, tailor-equipped to host a world-class industry event of the magnitude of the Genoa International Boat Show.

The Italian event represents a transversal format capable of addressing both industry professionals and boating enthusiasts, with 5 interconnected product areas (Yachts & Superyachts, Sailing World, Boating Discovery, Tech Trade, Living the Sea) across 20,000 sqm, of which 85% is outdoors allowing for sea trials and a seamless visitors' pathway.

The 65th edition of the Genoa International Boat Show, which in 2024 achieved the ISO 20121 certification for sustainable event management, will once again host the 4th World Yachting Sustainability Forum and Design Innovation Award, the acknowledgement that, now in its 6th edition, highlights the creativity and technological excellence of new products on display at the Genoa International Boat Show.
