Clem Middle announced as new NSSCA head coach

by Norman Byrd 3 Jun 03:46 PDT

Round 2 of this year's P&B Northamptonshire Youth Series takes place this coming Saturday at Northampton Sailing Club, enter here.

We're delighted to announce the head coach for this year's series, Clem Middle. Clem is an active member of Draycote Water racing a WASZP. Clem says,

"I have been sailing since 2017 and started my journey at Draycote Water Sailing Club. I spent five years in Toppers in my beloved boat Orkan. In 2022 I moved in to 420s where I was a helm and loved the technical sailing involved. More recently I have moved into the Waszp fleet, this is an incredible fleet and a completely new experience with a lot to learn! I am a Dinghy Instructor and Race Coach and I work part time doing this at Draycote as well as studying for A Levels at college. I'm really looking forward to seeing the NYS sailor's develop this year."

Clem has drawn up a coaching plan for each event. This week we're focussing on downwind sailing, the forecast is looking breeze so it should be great fun with plenty of action for sailors and spectators alike! As ever we plan to start the day rigged and ready at 09:15 for a morning of training before 3 after lunch. All youth and junior sailors are welcome from any club.

We're really grateful to Rachel Heggs who led the series for a long time. Her coaching skills, patience and enthusiasm has helped hundreds of sailors over many years, thank you!
