Ray Roberts and his professional crew aboard Team Hollywood Samurai are off to a commanding start at the 22nd Samui Regatta, finishing the first three days with a flawless scoreline and just 5 points from five races.

Hosted at the picturesque Nora Beach Resort and Spa, the 22nd edition regatta runs from May 25 to 31 and sees all keelboats competing in a single, highly competitive IRC Open Class. The event, a highlight of the Asian sailing calendar, continues to draw top international talent and a vibrant local sailing community.

The Cookson 50, Team Hollywood Samurai, swept all races so far in the IRC Open Class. AfterTremor, helmed by Olympic sailor Steve McConaghy, sits in second place with 10 points overall. Rounding out the top three is Iolanthe 3, an Archambault A35 skippered by Australian Terry Foster, with 15 points.

Gloria (Philip Harris, David Hepburn & Simon Plunkett) holds fourth position, while SV Senetor, led by Chris Uptegrove, sits fifth with 22 and 27 points respectively.

In the Cruising Division, Gloria (an Oceanis 45) chartered by a team from the Royal Perth Yacht Club, claimed top honors once again and now holds a four for four race record, ahead of SV Senetor (a Jeanneau 45), which features renowned Danish yachtsman Nils Degenklow among the crew.

Meanwhile, the wind continued to play hide and seek, keeping Race Director Simon James and the race management team on their toes as they worked to deliver quality racing under shifting conditions.

The regatta competition spans five days, from May 26th to May 31st, with May 29th as a rest day and an opportunity for the sailors to explore and experience the hospitality of Koh Samui. The competition resumes on May 30th and continues through May 31st. Each day's competition concludes with a ceremony to honour and award the winners, culminating in a gala dinner at the Fair House Beach Resort and Hotel on the final day. The Nora Beach Resort and Spa Hotel was the gracious host of the opening ceremony, and the host of the daily award ceremonies.

The Samui Regatta Organizing Committee organizes the Samui Regatta in collaboration with the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the Tourism Association of Koh Samui, the Surat Thani Province, and Regattas Asia.

The 22nd Samui Regatta (2025) is proud to be supported by an array of sponsors whose collaboration and support are essential to the event's success. Co-sponsors include: Bangkok Airways, Bangkok Hospital Samui, Chaweng Gardens Beach Resort, Chaweng Regent Beach Resort, Haad Thip PCL, Singha, Samui VertiColor, Team Jelik (Frank Pong), Workforce International.
