Avikus, HD Hyundai's specialized Autonomous Navigation Technology subsidiary, announced today its innovative smart navigation and docking solution NEUBOAT has been selected for the iF Design Award 2025 in the category of User/Product Interface.

With almost 11,000 entries from 66 countries, the iF Design Award 2025 proves to be one of the most prestigious design competitions in the world. In three intense and successful days in Hamburg, Germany with the who's-who of the international design scene, 131 jurors from 23 countries selected the best and most outstanding designs. The jury, which adhered to strict selection criteria, praised the overall high quality of all entries and emphasized the growing focus on sustainability.

Sponsored by the non-profit iF Design Foundation, the award highlights the global importance of design, its social relevance and influence, and aims to encourage innovation for a better future. One innovation that marks the Awards is the increased emphasis on sustainability as one of the five evaluation criteria in the hybrid jury process. To ensure this, the program has set up the Sustainability Working Group, which supported all jurors in questions related to sustainability and how to evaluate it in a good way.

Avikus NEUBOAT is an autonomous navigation solution for leisure boats, designed for both novice and experienced boaters. According to the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), 81% of fatal boating accidents are attributed to operator error. To address this, NEUBOAT goes beyond a standard chartplotter by using sensor fusion technology to display real-time obstacle data and suggest collision avoidance routes. Its advanced features aim to enhance safety and ease for all users. Additionally, six onboard cameras provide users with a surround view, enabling safer and easier docking.

"We are very proud of the recognition and attention from experts for our work developing NEUBOAT, both within the marine industry and in the consumer design space," said Dohyeong Lim, CEO of Avikus. "NEUBOAT has been selected for innovation and design awards since its introduction, and we are confident that its impact on the recreational boating space will continue to ripple. We are pressing forward with new developments and look forward to presenting future products to venerated award programs like the iF Design Awards."
