The 29er Class Association is pleased to report on the successful fifth stop of the 2025 Eurocup Series, held at GKSS in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Twenty-one teams representing Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland took part in a competitive and well-organized event, supported by a national training camp in the lead-up to racing.
Racing Summary
Eurocup #5 opened with a productive first day of racing on Saturday, May 3. Following a morning briefing for coaches and skippers, the fleet launched into strong but manageable breeze, ranging from 12 to 18 knots. Four races were completed in shifting winds, initially from the west before veering to the southwest. The racing was characterized by high boat speeds, close mark roundings, and strategic positioning in variable pressure.
Day 2 began with clear skies and a strong northeasterly wind exceeding 30 knots in gusts. With safety as the priority, the race committee held sailors ashore under AP and monitored conditions. Although teams remained prepared and optimistic, the decision was made in the early afternoon to cancel racing for the day due to continued gusts well above racing limits.
Despite the shortened schedule, the regatta delivered four high-quality races and valuable experience for a diverse and motivated fleet.
