7th Portugal Grand Prix at Vilamoura Sailing - Round 2 Day 1

The second round of the 7 Portugal Grand Prix kicked off in style today, delivering an action-packed start to the competition. With top international sailors competing across the 49er, 49erFX, ILCA 7, ILCA 6 Women, and ILCA 6 Men fleets, the waters of Vilamoura set the stage for an intense opening day of racing.

Spectacular conditions welcomed the 375 Olympic sailors (final numbers) and 82 coaches from 42 countries, with winds ranging from 15 to 22 knots, sunny skies, and an incredible swell, providing top-tier racing conditions for the opening day.

The 49er and 49erFX fleets completed three races, while the ILCA 7 (Yellow and Blue groups), ILCA 6 Women, and ILCA 6 Men fleets completed two races.

Today, fans were able to follow the action live, with streaming of the 49erFX and 49er race starts. Tomorrow, the spotlight shifts to the ILCA 7 and ILCA 6 fleets, as we continue bringing the excitement straight to our audience.

The forecast predicts favorable sailing conditions, ensuring another day of high-level competition. "It's fantastic to see such a strong start to Round 2 of the Portugal Grand Prix," said Nuno Reis, CEO of Vilamoura Sailing. "The level of competition is outstanding, and we are looking forward to even more spectacular racing in the days ahead."
