The Magenta Project (TMP), a pioneering force in advancing equity and inclusion in the world of sailing, has today announced Victoria Low as its first Chief Executive Officer.

With a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion, Low will lead TMP into an exciting new chapter, alongside the new Board that was announced last month.

Low has over three decades of experience in sport across consumer, corporate, private and charity sectors - and in her recent role as head of World Sailing Trust, she worked with its Board to spearhead a global participation study, champion better maternity support as well as highlight the gender pay gap in the sport. In 2019, Low also authored a global strategic review focused on women in sailing. Her strategic vision for greater diversity and inclusion is perfectly aligned with TMP's mission.

Low said: "Having been involved at the very start of The Magenta Project and serving on its Board for five years, I have seen first-hand the strides that it has taken to advance inclusion and equity in the sport. However, there is still so much more that can be done and greater acceleration is needed, which is why I am excited to take on the role of its first CEO and collaborate with like-minded organisations and institutions to really drive TMP forward."

Low's appointment comes at a crucial time for TMP as the organisation continues to empower women in sailing and expand its reach globally. With Low's leadership, plus the addition of new Board members Soco Núñez de Cela (ESP), Holly Cova (GBR), Bruno Dubois (BEL/CAN), Cole Brauer (USA), Rosalin Kuiper (NED), Annie Lush (GBR), Ayme Sinclair (USA) and Jane Millman (USA), TMP is poised to enhance its impact and drive even greater change in the sport.

Chair of the board, Núñez de Cela said: "We are really excited to welcome Victoria as our first-ever CEO to help drive The Magenta Project forward and build upon the great work that has already been done over the last ten years. I think this appointment shows a clear intent and, alongside the new supercharged board, we will continue to build on the growth of the organisation and advance our programmes - in particular the mentoring programme.

"This is not only a pivotal time for women in sailing but also women's sport as a whole, and Victoria's experience in both these areas is what's needed to make a positive and progressive impact on the sport of sailing and ensure that there are more opportunities for women in the sailing industry."

Low's appointment as CEO commences with immediate effect and is part of a new restructure at TMP which, in addition to the new board, will also include the appointment of a Programmes Manager.
