Edmiston leads superyacht market in 2024 with €1.25bn in sales and unmatched global market share

by Edmiston 9 Jan 01:43 PST

Superyacht brokerage Edmiston reaffirmed its market dominance in 2024, delivering an exceptional sales performance that once again positioned the company as an industry leader.

With an impressive €1.25 billion in total yacht sales across the year, Edmiston completed 35 deals on yachts over 30 metres, compared with 29 in 2023 - representing a 21% year-on-year growth.

The family-run brokerage sold more yachts over 40 metres than any of their competitors worldwide, achieving a 26% market share for yachts sold above €20 million.

The year 2024 marked a rise in global yacht sales over 30 metres, with the number of deals settled globally increasing by 4% year-on-year. Edmiston was at the forefront of this growth, with its central agency yachts selling at twice the speed of the industry average.

Market Trends & Buyer Preferences

Driving Edmiston's achievements in 2024 was a notably strong demand for recently delivered yachts. Sales of vessels constructed within the past five years surged by 42%, demonstrating a clear buyer preference for modern, high-specification vessels.

A high percentage of those more recently built yachts sold in 2024 fell within the 40-50 metre category, which saw an 18% increase in global sales compared to 2023.

While sailing yachts over 30 metres made up just 8.7% of the market - a negligible dip from 9.9% in 2023 - demand for motor yachts has remained robust, with buyers favoring the size and space of these luxurious, high-performance vessels.

Edmiston's growing presence in North America further highlighted the firm's understanding of shifting market trends. The region solidified its position as a powerhouse in the superyacht market, particularly at the top end, with financial confidence following the U.S. elections driving significant activity among ultra-high-net-worth buyers.

Standout Sales of 2024

Standout sales in 2024 demonstrated Edmiston's unmatched ability to handle high-value transactions with precision and speed. Among the year's highlights were deals that reflected the company's expertise in delivering exceptional results for both buyers and sellers:

  • COME TOGETHER - A 60-metre Amels motor yacht, designed by renowned designer Espen Øino, completed from announcement to sale in 86 days. Come Together had an asking price of €59,950,000.
  • WAYFINDER - A 68-metre catamaran motor yacht, sold in an in-house deal in only 106 days. Delivered in 2021 as the ultimate support vessel, Wayfinder had an asking price of €55,000,000.
Edmiston also introduced the buyers for the sale of several yachts including:
  • 74-metre Amels motor yacht NEW SECRET, asking price of €109,000,000.
  • 62-metre VSY motor yacht ROMA, asking price €29,900,000.
  • 55-metre Amels motor yacht PAPA, asking price €37,000,000.
  • 50-metre Riva motor yacht RACE, asking price €32,90,000.
Alex Koersvelt, Commercial Director for Edmiston, comments:

"2024 was another strong year for Edmiston where we outperformed the market, further cementing our position as the leading superyacht brokerage. With a number of deals in the pipeline leading us into January, as well as some exciting developments across our departments, we have a positive outlook for 2025."

Looking Ahead to 2025

Going forward into 2025, satisfying the market's demand for innovation and sustainability remains at the forefront of Edmiston's vision.

A shining example of the brokerage's commitment to leadership in delivering environmentally responsible solutions is PROJECT 821 (price on application).

The world's first fuel-cell-powered superyacht, Feadship's 119-metre Project 821 represents the greenest and most advanced yacht ever built. Having been involved in her development since the project's inception, Edmiston is proud to be going into 2025 with Project 821 at the head of its roster of superyachts for sale.

Jamie Edmiston, CEO, comments:

"As the global yachting market continues to demonstrate a demand for new-builds that push the boundaries of innovation and complexity, we are proud to lead the way in sustainability and technological advancements. Project 821 is a landmark achievement, not just for Edmiston and Feadship, but for the entire industry. We look forward to breaking new ground with her sale in 2025."
