The International Game Fish Association (IGFA) and Walker's Cay are proud to announce the inaugural IGFA Walker’s Cay Shootout, taking place April 23-26, 2025, in the breathtaking waters of Walker's Cay, Bahamas. This 100% release format tournament provides anglers an opportunity to compete in one of the most renowned fishing destinations in the world, while supporting the IGFA's conservation efforts to protect billfish populations globally.

"The IGFA Walker's Cay Shootout offers a unique combination of world-class fishing and conservation," said IGFA President Jason Schratwieser. "Walker's Cay has an incredible legacy in sportfishing history, and we're honored to launch a tournament that celebrates the island's heritage while advancing the IGFA's mission to ensure the future of billfish species and recreational angling worldwide."

Fishing days for the tournament will take place on Thursday, April 24, and Friday, April 25, with anglers competing in strict adherence to IGFA International Angling Rules. This event will recognize top-performing teams and anglers, with prizes awarded based on release points for billfish species.

The tournament's relaxed format embraces the island lifestyle, featuring buffet-style meals and a casual captain's meeting under the gantry area's covered tent, fostering camaraderie among participants.

The entry fee of $4,500 per team includes a $1,500 tax-deductible donation to support IGFA programs in conservation, education, and ethical angling. Teams will also participate in a mandatory Calcutta of $18,000 managed by Walker's Cay, offering additional competitive stakes and excitement.

"Walker's Cay has been synonymous with sportfishing excellence for generations," said tournament director Ryan Edwards. "We're thrilled to host this new tournament and partner with the IGFA to create an event that reflects both the beauty of our island and the values of responsible, ethical angling."

Proceeds from the IGFA Walker's Cay Shootout will drive the IGFA's mission forward, funding essential billfish research, conservation initiatives, and youth angling education programs. These efforts are critical to ensuring sustainable fisheries and preserving the sport for future generations.
