2024 ILCA UK Open & National Championships at the WPNSA - Day 4

Noble Marine and Southeast Sailboats Day
A very feisty 24 to 32 knots (according to Weatherfile) greeted the ILCA4s and ILCA7s as they made their way down to the start-line in Weymouth harbour, many taking a dip on the way.
There are not many sailing venues that provide this more sheltered option but the presence of a very large ship made only one harbour course possible. So the ILCA6s were held ashore until the 4s and 7s had finished their 2 races.
ILCA4
Ben Anderson continued his very impressive winning streak with 2 bullets. Toby Waggett only a few points behind in second and Oscar Bartlett in third. Tate Kump had a good day with a 3rd and a 2nd to move him into 4th overall. Jessica Powell 8th, Katherine Gunn 17th and Nina Marsh (18th) were the top three females. Corneille Leprince liked the windy conditions and scored his best result in R5 with an 11th.
ILCA7
Alan Davis is the leading Master (28th) - no mean feat at the grand old age of 63 but it’s no surprise that the young guns are way out in front. James Percival-Cooke won the day with a 2nd and a 1st but only one point behind him is James Foster. Seb Kempe moves up to 3rd taking the race win in in the first race of the day.
ILCA6 Gold Fleet
Matilda Nichols has extended her lead with a 1,2 over Xavier Bates who took the win in second race of the day. Archie Munro - Price had a solid day with two 5th to take 3rd. Jack Hopkins had a very good day with a 2nd and 3rd as he gets to grips with the ILCA6 rig and moves into 6th - just behind Jon Emmett. Charlotte Videlo (15th) is 2nd female and Iris Singleton (20th) 3rd.
ILCA6 Silver Fleet
Dru Townsend is 1st, Monty Desforges 2nd and Rhys Powell 3rd. A special mention goes to Will Tovey, 14 years old, who survived the day - that’s a great achievement !
This was a tough day for all but nicely rounded off with drinks supplied by Noble Marine and prizes from Southeast sailboats. The day's big prize winners were Freddie Sunderland, John Cant, and Anna Mason - Thank you Max.
