The eyes of the sailing world will turn to Qingdao, China, from 10-17 May 2025, as the city prepares to host the 2025 ILCA 6 Women's and ILCA 7 Men's World Championships. This premier event will bring together the world's top sailors in two of the most competitive Olympic classes, with high stakes in the lead-up to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Held at the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center, the championship will mark a significant return to the iconic waters that hosted the 2008 Olympic sailing events. Known for its challenging conditions, shifting breezes, and tactical racecourse, Qingdao offers a fitting stage for a world-class competition that will test both skill and endurance.

237 athletes (138 Men and 99 Women) from 40 nations are going to compete, including defending champions, rising stars, and Olympic medalists. For many, this championship represents not only a battle for world titles but also a crucial milestone in the international ranking and Olympic qualification journey.

Qingdao is also known as the sailing capital of China with the government supporting thousands of students, from primary schools to universities, to learn and try out sailing for free every year.

The organizing authorities are the Chinese Yachting Association (CYA), China Water Sports Administration, Shandong Administration of Sports, Qingdao Municipal People's Government in conjunction with the ILCA. The great support to the organization was provided by the Qingdao Major International Sailing Event(Festivals) Organizing Committee, China Marine Sports Academy, Qingdao Municipal Sports Bureau, Qingdao Tourism Group Co., Ltd., Qingdao Olympic Sailing City Development Association, Qingdao Yachting Association and Qingdao Sports Development Center.

Full event schedule, the entry lists, the event documents and other useful information, are available on the Event Official Notice Board: onb.ilca.roms.ar/ilcaoly2025/index.php/en
