It is with much pleasure and excitement that Sailing Federation of Hong Kong, China shares the news of our ILCA 6 sailor Stephanie Louise Norton having been awarded Chief Executive’s Commendation for Community Service. The award is bestowed upon Stephanie in recognition of her outstanding achievements in the international sailing competitions.
Stephanie has been a full-time athlete at Hong Kong Sports Institute since 2019. She has made history in sailing time after time. She qualified for the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 and was the first dinghy sailor in Hong Kong's history to successfully qualify for the Olympics through the Olympic Qualifier.
Stephanie performed exceptionally well in 2023. In June, she won the ILCA 6 (Open) bronze medal at Kiel Week in Germany, and in September, she won the silver medal at the Asian Games, which is the first silver medal of Hong Kong dinghy sailing. In recognition of her outstanding achievements, Stephanie was awarded the "2023 Female Sailor of the Year" at our inaugural annual awards ceremony last year. Furthermore, she is a role model and has inspired the young sailors in Hong Kong.
Through her remarkable accomplishments, Stephanie has helped to elevate Hong Kong's sailing presence on the international stage, allowing the world to witness the strength and talent of Hong Kong's sailing community.
We are so proud of you, Stephanie!
