Dangerous conditions Friday 5 April on Macquarie waters down to Illawarra
Why
Looks like some rough weather heading into Friday and the weekend. A trough is expected to reach the far north coast Wednesday, then remain slow moving through the midweek. Winds will turn south to southeasterly as a high pressure ridge extends across the south, then the coastal trough is forecast to deepen late in the week, potentially developing into a low between Friday and Saturday, heading southwards and reaching the far south coast by late Saturday.
Where
On Friday on the Macquarie, Hunter, Sydney and Illawarra coasts, seas will be 2.5 to 3 metres, with 2 to 3 metre mixed southerly and easterly swells.
BOM is warning that conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing.
Swell period
Swell period will be very short, just 5 to 8 seconds.
