214 sailors from 19 educational institutions throughout Hong Kong and two from the Greater Bay Shenzhen area, formed 26 teams to compete in the 19th edition of the event.

Racing a mix of Feva, Pico and Fusion dinghies in two division, teams battled it out at Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s Volvo Middle Island Water Sports Training Centre. The 200 + strong competitors and spectators were also joined by the general public who were treated to a great display of racing, easily viewed from the Deep Water Bay Promenade, with racing held directly in front of the club house.

With a daunting forecast for breezy conditions all weekend, day 1 saw the sailors met by breeze that was precious little in the soft patches to 'full on' in the gusts. Despite the conditions, the sailors were raring to get out on the water and defend their school’s honour.

Race Officer Elberti Uiterwaal-Postma, commenting on the event reported “Day 1 was challenging, but the second day took things to a whole new level. The weather Gods not only gave us big winds, they also added in some rain. Yet again a fantastic Interschools and we are all looking forward to the challenges next year brings.”

All in, a total of 78 races were run over the two days amid weather delays with the AP requiring hoisting for safety on raceable wind limits. The top 2 teams from each of the A and B Leagues within each division raced off the final four races of the event, to determine the final placings after the conclusion of Stage 1, culminating in the most exciting display of team racing of the event. Presentation took place immediately after racing with RHKYC Commodore Lucy Sutro officiating, joined by Alex Liu, Managing Partner of Boase Cohen & Collins, who presented prizes along with awarding two Sailing Scholarships of HKD10,000 to each of the overall winning teams.

Overall Places: Division B (Pico/Fusion) 1. Chinese International School 1 2. Jockey Club Ti-I College 3. Meisha Bilingual School 4. Chinese International School 1
