Ireland's Team Racing Team Baltimore Sailing Club from West Cork has claimed the bronze medal in a gripping finale to the 2025 Team Racing World Championship, held at the prestigious New York Yacht Club. The event concluded on Sunday, June 1st, with high winds, rough seas, and intense competition defining the final day of racing.

The regatta brought together elite teams from around the globe to battle it out in challenging 20-knot conditions off the coast of Rhode Island. After four days of high-octane action, Corinthian Yacht Club (USA) emerged victorious with a commanding 20 points, showcasing consistent dominance throughout the 25 races sailed. Kiwi Racing (New Zealand) took silver, while Baltimore SC (Ireland) delivered an outstanding performance to secure bronze, highlighting the truly international calibre of this championship.

Representing Ireland with pride the team from Baltimore Sailing Club consisted of Fionn Lyden, Johnny Durcan (team captain), Amy Harrington, Trudy O'Hare, Mark Hassett, Liam Glynn, Emma Geary, and Michael O'Sullivan. The team steadily advanced through the stages, earning their place in the elite Gold Fleet and finishing joint second in points. After a close tie-breaker, they were awarded third overall—a testament to their experience, cohesion, and perseverance.

Speaking at the Club Commodore Peter O'Flynn said ""We are immensely proud of our team for bringing home the bronze medal at the World Championships. Their performance in such a competitive and international field is a true reflection of the dedication, skill, and spirit that defines Baltimore Sailing Club. This result not only showcases the strength of Irish sailing on the world stage but also inspires the next generation of sailors in West Cork and beyond. We'll be flying the flag high for a long time to come."."

The six-team Gold Fleet featured New York Yacht Club (USA), Newport Harbor Yacht Club (USA), Kiwi Racing (NZL), West Kirby Hawks (GBR), Corinthian Yacht Club (USA), and Baltimore SC (IRE). The final standings—each of the top four positions held by a different country—showcased the global reach and competitive spirit of modern team racing.
