Forty J/70 teams traveled to Davis Island Yacht Club in Tampa, Florida for the first weekend of the 2023-2024 J/70 Winter Series. Three races were completed each day Saturday and Sunday in beautiful conditions on Tampa Bay.

Winds started light on Saturday but increased to 14 knots by afternoon. Sunday saw breeze at 6-8 knots under sunny Florida skies. Brian Keane's Savasana with Thomas Barrows, Ron Weed and Conner Harding posted scores of 3-3-1-[4]-2-1 for 10 net points for the weekend victory. Following were Joel Ronning's Catapult in second place with 15 net points and John Brim's Rimette in third at 18.

Hot on the heels of becoming Corinthian World Champions, the top amateur team was USA1516 with Lee Sackett, David Kerr, Mike Booker and Tod Sackett. More than half of the entrants participated in the Corinthian division.

In the six-boat One-Pro Division, David Franzel with Stephen Waldie, Brian Christopher and Chris Small led the pack. In the seven-boat Mixed+ group, Cate Terhune dominated, with crew Allan Terhune, Greiner Hobbs and Katja Sertl.

The Series continues January 6-7 and February 2-4 (the 2024 J/70 Midwinter Championship). More information and full results available here.
