The Super 40 Class is gearing up for its 2023/2024 racing season, and it promises to be an eventful and competitive series.

In this season, a variety of sailboats, ranging from 31 to 44 feet in length, will take part in the races. The distinguishing feature of this season is the use of the PHRF and ORC Club Handicaps scoring system to ensure equitable competition.

The race calendar is set to include a mix of races. Some of these races will be integrated into established regattas such as the Sydney Harbour Regatta, Pittwater, and Hamilton Island, while others will be standalone events designed to deliver an extra dose of excitement.

The Super 40 Class has extended invitations to a diverse group of boats, including Fast 40s, IC 37s, Cape 31s, Melges 32s, RP42s, One Offs, and MC 38s - with MC 38s showing particular enthusiasm for this format.

To participate in this season, teams are required to submit their previous race results along with their ORC Club Handicap. The PHRF, a New Zealand-based handicapping system, will then provide a unique handicap score. Both handicaps will be used to ensure fair competition during the races.

To support the Super 40 Class's operations and logistics, there will be a $500 entry fee per boat for each race event. This fee will be distributed to cover event costs and support the ongoing development of the Class.

Rules and regulations for the races are set by the hosting club. Each boat is limited to having only two paid crew members and must adhere to specific equipment specifications, including featuring a bow sprit for their sails.

The leadership of the Super 40 Class includes Mitch White, the founder, along with Michael Ritchie (One Off - Revolver) and David Ross (Cape 31 - Kukukuchu). Mark Mulcare serves as the PHRF Handicapper, overseeing the handicapping process.
