ILCA Oceania announce ‘Solidarity' a program to assist young women into competive sailing © ILCA Oceania

Building on the successful launch of the Australian model in 2023, ILCA Oceania are expanding the program to cover NZ and the Pacific Island nations.

Ten young women from the region will have the opportunity to be coached and compete at a world class championship.

Young female sailors, three from Pacific Island nations, one from NZ and one from each of the six Australian states will be selected to compete in the 2024 Oceania and Australian championships in Adelaide.

The sailors, selected by their local ILCA district, will be given free entry to this 6-day event. They will have the use of a free charter boat and a qualified ILCA coach will assist them for the duration of the regatta. Team clothing and merchandise will be supplied by the sponsor. This free offer is valued at more than AUD 2500. Selection criteria and entry details can be found on the following websites ILCA Oceania (laserinternational.org) and ilca.au

Please note that applications for this program need submitted by October 1st.

ILCA sailing is an Olympic sport for young women. It opens the opportunity for travel and friendships. Sailors who choose the ILCA class can access support from their local ILCA district and compete in championships around the world. For more information check the ILCA website.
