The 8th Annual Storm Trysail Club Ted Hood Regatta was held in Marblehead from August 18th through 20th 2023 at Eastern Yacht Club. The regatta handicap racing for ORR/PHRF fleets and one-design classes of J/70s and J/105s.

The ten-boat J/70 class saw Peter Lynn's Key Player lead the talented fleet with a 4-1-3-1-1-4 record for 14 pts. Long-time class veteran Dave Franzel could've won except for a retirement in race 3. In the end, Dave's SPRING team compiled a 1-2-RET-3-2-1 for 20 pts to take the silver medal. Then, rounding out the podium in third place was Dann Dowd & Pearse Goedkoop's LOCOMOTION with a 3-3-1-5-5-5 tally for 22 pts.

In the eight-boat J/105 class, Matt Herbster's NO QUARTER gave "no quarter" to the fleet after their near-disastrous first race in 7th place! Shaking off the cobwebs, pulling out a can of Popeye's "whupass", Matt's team then decimated the fleet with four 1sts and three 2nds to win with 17 pts. Ric Dexter's team on BROUHAHA won that first race, but could not maintain the blistering pace of the NO QUARTER team, instead posting a modest scoreline of 1-6-2-4-4-1-4-2 for 24 pts. Taking the final podium step for the bronze medal was Steve Hollis's SIROCCO with a 5-2-5-1-2-4-7-4 record for 30 pts.

In the handicap offshore racing world, Ed Kaye's J/111 PRVDA took the silver in the five-boat ORR Class 1, while Ward Blodgett & Liz Smith's J/33 SIROCCO took the bronze medal in PHRF Class 2.
