6 orders confirmed for the Race 1 Ker 11.3
by Philip Crebbin 4 Jan 2001 07:32 PST
Race 1 is pleased to announce the names of the first owners of the Race 1 Ker 11.3 IRM One-Design. By the end of the year 2000, not just the first 4 boats were sold as already mentioned in Press Release No 3, but 6 owners had seen the great performance and value for money being presented and had signed up.
These 6 owners are as follows:
- DAVID PINNER - recently acquired C Spars, the company that will be supplying the carbon spars for the Race1 Ker 11.3.
- MICHAEL WHITE - based in Kent, he has been a regular charterer for main race events.
- CHRIS BULL - a Prima 38 owner and a serious offshore racer, who has achieved the fantastic result of finishing 2nd overall in the Sydney-Hobart that has just ended.
- ROBBIE CAMERON-DAVIES - currently the owner of J Spirit with which he has won the Fastnet Race as well as a number of other major RORC events.
- ANTHONY RICHARDS - also a Prima 38 owner who runs Racing Masterclass
- JOHN SHEPHERD - currently the owner of the Mumm 36 Fair Do’s
Congratulations to all these first owners of the Race1 Ker 11.3 and welcome as the founding members of the Race1 Ker 11.3 Owners Club. Of course extra special congratulations to Chris Bull on his Sydney-Hobart success. Race 1 and Ker Associates are very pleased that such an impressive array of talent is included in the first group of owners.
Apart from these 6, the next 2 owners are expected to be announced before the end of the London Boat Show. All these 8 boats will be delivered before Cowes Week 2001. There is the possibility of one or two more boats being delivered in time for Cowes Week and so other interested owners should contact Race 1 promptly if they would like to consider having one of these exciting IRM One-Designs by then.
CHARTER
Some of the boats will be available for charter when the owners are not using them. They will be operated from the Race 1 base at Hamble Point Marina. Some have already been booked for regattas next year, including for events in the new IRM Grand Prix Circuit, but there is still a limited availability. So for people who would like to try racing one of the most exciting new boats to appear in this country, please contact Race1 to arrange the charter of a Race1 Ker 11.3 for one or several events. This will be a fantastic way for people to experience the excitement of close one-design racing in a boat that is also highly competitive under both IRM and IRC. Of course, this would also be an excellent way for potential owners to trial the boat more satisfactorily than having a short demo sail.
CONSTRUCTION
The construction process is proceeding at a fast pace at Vision Yachts, who have had little time for rest over the holiday season. Please find the latest pictures of the hull and deck plugs attached.
