The final medal races were completed today, closing out the 2023 Allianz Sailing World Championships, and Australia's Tokyo gold medalist Matt Wearn and Hungary's two-time Olympian Mária Érdi were named 2023 world champions.

Today was the lightest day of the eight-day championship, in about 5-6 shifty knots of breeze with a fighting current.

In the ILCA 7 fleet, Wearn went into the medal race with a 20-point lead, so as long as he was not disqualified, gold was his. He sailed a conservative, clean race to finish sixth and win the title of world champion. Great Britain's Michael Beckett, who led the fleet for most of the week, had more to gain if he could finish ahead of New Zealand's George Gautrey. Gautrey was ahead of Beckett by only one point heading into the medal race, so Beckett's second-place finish gave him silver as Gautrey finished fifth today to claim bronze. The winner of today's medal race was Frenchman Jean-Baptiste Bernaz, who consolidated his lead early on and maintained his position ahead of Beckett until the finish line.

In the ILCA 6 fleet, the points were tighter as the top five women were all contenders for the gold medal heading into the final race. Two of the contenders were Switzerland's Maud Jayet, the fleet leader, and Denmark's Tokyo gold medalist Anne-Marie Rindom, who unfortunately both received costly penalties - Rindom off the start and Jayet on the first downwind. With Jayet, Rindom, and American Charlotte Rose further back in the fleet, the podium battle shifted to 25-year-old Érdi and three-time Olympic medalist Marit Bouwmeester of The Netherlands. Érdi managed to keep her lead ahead of Bouwmeester to finish in third with Bouwmeester in fifth, securing the gold medal for Érdi. Despite the difficult race today, Jayet went home with silver and Rindom claimed bronze. Sweden's Tokyo silver medalist Josefin Olsson won the medal race with a sizable lead, followed by Belgium's Emma Plasschaert in second.
