The Sussex Regatta 2023

by Chris Hawkes 27 Jun 2023 01:48 PDT 17-18 June 2023

For 2023 the Sussex Regatta was hosted by Brighton Marina Yacht Club, with three races planned across two days of racing. A great turn out of 17 boats took to the water.

The wind gods were not in favour and while the race committee bravely soldiered on, the final tally was two races on Saturday and two races on Sunday. In at times very light winds, the tactics were about tide and sailing skill to keep moving, but with brilliant sunshine on Saturday all competitors must have enjoyed the day on the water. Sunday's rain was more challenging to enjoy however.

Ashore, BMYC put in a fantastic evening BBQ on Saturday and a great Prizegiving on Sunday.

Big congratulations to SYC boat Upstart for the overall win in IRC!

And we share thanks to event sponsors including Ancasta & Nicky's Chandlery and again for Club BMYC supported by the Sussex Regatta Organising Committee. In 2024 the event moves to Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club and racing off Eastbourne.
