Based on our much-acclaimed Y8 luxury yacht, we recently unveiled a new Y8 Custom version of this head-turning design. It was developed together with a YYachts customer who worked in many of his own bespoke ideas.

Our customer had sailed competitively in the past and wanted a made-to-measure luxury yacht incorporating many of his own ideas. Based on our stunning Y8 all-carbon luxury yacht, we worked together to bring the new Y8 Custom to life. Inspired by this fascinating project we are now encouraging prospective YYachts owners to propose their own bespoke ideas - the Y8 Custom interior is very much a blank sheet of paper and the YYachts team is available to offer a uniquely tailored and refined experience.

YYachts' founder Michael Schmidt: "The Y8 is the perfect size for me and it's no coincidence that I once owned one myself. With the Y8 Custom, we can now serve almost every customer's taste and requirements in this category of yacht."

The Y8 is an amazing design created by Javier Jaudenes and his Surge Projects studio, with an all-carbon hull that has been retained for the new Y8 Custom version. However, many changes have been made to the yacht to accommodate personal requests, such as the removal of backstays and the use of a square topped mainsail to increase power in light wind conditions.

To incorporate the owner's wishes, the interior layout has also been extensively customized by our design teams. The main salon, for instance, is a sumptuous area comprising a relaxing lounge plus an exclusive dining area. This space can be used as part of the salon or, by closing the doors, can enlarge the master cabin converting into a fully equipped seagoing office. For this reason, there are lockers dedicated to galley utensils on one side and to office materials on the other.

To ensure privacy, the crew quarters are located aft and are separate from the rest of the boat, while for easy access, the crew have two entrances, one connected to the cockpit and one close to the salon. Thanks to this special configuration, the Y8 Custom coachroof is now longer and exceptionally sleek, creating a large cockpit for relaxing and enjoying regattas. Or for just lazing in the sun whilst entertaining friends when moored in harbour.
