  • The Qatar Airways GKA Big Air Kite World Championships Tarifa is next up on the calendar, and the video application is now open
  • The one-stop GKA Youth World Championships will be held in Tarifa from 20th to 25th June
  • The Qatar Airways GKA Awards are set to take place in Tarifa Theatre on 3rd June

Qatar Airways GKA Big Air Kite World Championships Tarifa
Balneario, 26 May - 16 June

The world's top kiteboarders are preparing to gather in Tarifa, Spain, from May 26 to June 16, for the highly anticipated Qatar Airways GKA Big Air Kite World Championships. With the support of Qatar Airways, the event will bring together riders from across the globe to compete in the Big Air discipline, where they will perform spectacular tricks and jumps while being judged on their style, execution, and height in three disciplines - Twin-Tip, Strapless and Hydrofoil.

The competition features three disciplines: Twin-Tip, Strapless, and Hydrofoil. The Twin-Tip discipline will feature 24 men and 12 women, while Kite-Surf will have 12 men and 12 women. In the Hydrofoil discipline, there will be 12 men competing. Additionally, there are 5 video application spots available for Twin-Tip, 6 for Kite-Surf, and 6 for Hydrofoil discipline.

Video applications will close on April 28, so interested participants should submit their videos as soon as possible.

GKA Youth Kite World Championships Tarifa
Tumbao, 20 - 25 June

Straight after the GKA Big Air Event, the focus will shift to the young generation of kiteboarders. This year, the GKA will host a one-stop Youth World Championships in Tarifa, Spain from 20-25 June. Young kiteboarders aged U14, U16, and U19 will compete in boys' and girls' disciplines. The event will be held at Valdevaqueros beach, next to Tumbao, and is expected to attract more participants than last year as it will take place during the European school summer holidays. In addition to the competition there will be various clinics planned in areas such as training on and off the water, social media, content creation, competition strategy, and water safety.

Registration is now open, so make sure to register young riders for this one-of-a-kind experience in Tarifa.

Tarifa Theatre, 3 June

We are thrilled to announce the Qatar Airways GKA Awards for the second year in a row! On June 3rd in Tarifa, we will gather to honor the best riders, tricks, and legends of the kitesports world. This year, we are excited to present a total of nine awards, including three new categories:

    1. Female Rider of the Year Award
    2. Male Rider of the Year Award
    3. Women's Move of the Year Award
    4. Men's Move of the Year Award
    5. Rookie of the Year Award
    6. Social Contribution Award
    7. Lifetime Achievement (Legend) Award (new)
    8. Photo of the Year Award (new)
    9. Video of the Year Award (new)
