As you prepare for the summer sailing season, I'd like you to consider next year's Mackinac Race. We will celebrate the 100th consecutive running of the race, which starts on July 20, 2024.

If you have not pre-registered, please do so. We already have 150 boats pre-registered, and pre-registration will close on June 1. By pre-registering, you will be allowed to register for the race a week before the race registration is open to those who did not pre-register. Registration fees for the 2024 race will be charged when you register in early October, and dockage will be assigned in order of paid registration.

We do expect a record turnout for the 2024 race. However, we are limited to the number of boats that can be docked at Mackinac Island. Docking on Mackinac Island will be at one of two locations:

  1. Mackinac Island State Harbor (slips or rafted)
  2. Arnold Freight Coal Dock (broadside or rafted)

Boats not guaranteed dockage on the island may have to go to Mackinaw City or St. Ignace.

To pre-register, go to the official race website, www.bycmack.com:

If you have already registered for the 2023 race, log in to your account. On the landing page, at the bottom of the left column, you will find a button to click to pre-register.

If you plan on registering for the 2023 race but haven't yet, when you log into your account, on the landing page, at the bottom of the left column, you will find a button to click to pre-register for the 2024 race.

If you don't plan on registering for the 2023 race but have participated before, log in to your account. On the landing page, which will say 2023 Mackinac Race, at the bottom of the left column, you will find a button to click to pre-register.

If you have a new boat to enter in the 2024 race or haven't participated before, please complete a Race Invitation Request, which can be found on the official race website under the Competitors tab, and the Registration header. There is a button at the bottom of the page to click on to pre-register for the 2024 100th Mackinac Race. After completing and submitting this form, a username and access code will be emailed to you to use when registering for the race in October.

The list of pre-registered boats is shown on the official race website under the Competitors tab and the Entries header.

If you have issues accessing your boat record, please contact Race Administrator Melissa Wenzler at .

We will soon post a list of local ambassadors who can answer specific questions. You can certainly reach out to me at with any questions, yet we also wanted to provide a list of familiar faces with the race experience. Additionally, we will post a logistic resource list for boats traveling and needing local resources.

Looking forward to seeing you on the water!
