Global Marine partners with M2M One NZ to deliver Super Yacht connectivity

by Global Marine 13 Apr 2023 08:32 AEST

New Zealand-based Marine Technology company Global Marine has formed a new partnership with M2M One NZ to develop next generation connectivity solutions for the Marine industry and Super Yachts.

Global Marine is a supplier of leading technology solutions to the Marine, Defence, and Super Yacht sectors - spanning cellular connectivity, satellite communication, advanced IT solutions, remote monitoring, and marine and defence simulation.

The partnership will combine Global Marine's maritime expertise with M2M's global portfolio of class leading IoT and communication hardware to meet rising demand for 'unbreakable connectivity' at sea. It will span IT, Cellular, Satellite, and on-board IT systems.

M2M One NZ is part of the Semtech Corporation, which is one the world's largest semiconductor, IoT systems, and cloud connectivity service providers. Their recent takeover of Sierra Wireless gives them access to one of the deepest IoT hardware portfolios in the world.

Global Marine will draw on leading hardware supplied by M2M One NZ, including Peplink routers, to provide enterprise-grade connectivity to onboard communication and multimedia systems simultaneously.

Peplink routers will enable Global Marine to remotely manage and support vessel systems for customers. Plus, provide essential failover capability to ensure vessels remain connected in even the most remote regions of the world. For example, providing connectivity via satellite if 3G/4G connections fail.

Nik Thullesen, Founder, Director, and System Specialist for Global Marine, said: "Our partnership with M2M One NZ will allow us to deliver the highest performing marine communications systems on any Super Yacht in the region and we look forward to building a beneficial relationship as we grow our capability.

"Initial projects where we have utilised Peplink routers have enabled more reliable LTE and satellite connectivity than previously possible, which we believe will a gamechanger for the maritime sector," Thullesen adds.

Martin Ryan, Strategic Partner Manager of M2M One NZ, said: "The coming together of Semtech and Sierra Wireless' capabilities puts M2M One in the unique position of being able to offer the most advanced connectivity solutions in the NZ market.

"The marine sector is a priority area for us and we look forward to delivering the best hardware from companies like Peplink to help Nik and Global Marine deliver unbreakable connectivity to their clients," Ryan adds.

M2M was appointed Distributor for Australia by Peplink in 2021. Peplink is one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-speed wireless solutions - specialising in SD-WAN technology, including 5G and LTE edge routers.
