Nautor Swan today announces the launch of the ClubSwan 28 American Series in collaboration with Terry Hutchinson and American Magic, a new high-performance racing circuit designed to ignite competitive sailing in the U.S.
- US-based regatta series unites high-performance design with competitive racing
- Next phase of the strategic relationship between Nautor Swan, a global leader in yacht design and manufacturing, and American Magic, the leading US racing team
The eight-event regatta calendar will debut in Pensacola, Florida in February 2026, and conclude with a World Championship, bringing cutting-edge design, elite-level racing, and broader racing experiences to the Nautor Swan community.
A new era of One-Design Racing
The 2026 calendar kicks off on February 18 in Pensacola, where the fleet will race in three monthly events before heading to Newport, Rhode Island in June and July for two high-intensity weekends of racing. The series returns to Florida for season-ending events in October and November.
"Nautor Swan has such a history of being a great boatbuilder," said Terry Hutchinson, who has played a key advisory role in developing the series. "But with the new ClubSwan 28, they've evolved their timeless design into something that speaks directly to today's high-performance sailors. It's fast, simple and competitive - exactly what this country needs."
Federico Michetti, Head of Nautor Swan Sport Activities, explains: "Designed in collaboration with Juan Yacht Design, the ClubSwan 28 is a compact yet powerful one-design boat.
"Our goal was to create a fun, fast, and safe entry point for sportsboat enthusiasts. The result is a high-performance yacht that appeals to both professional crews and Corinthian owner-drivers, providing a gateway into the wider Nautor Swan community."
Innovation, infrastructure, and U.S.-built boats
This relationship goes beyond regattas. Nautor Swan and American Magic will collaborate on boat production in Pensacola, positioning the region as a new hub for sailing innovation.
"Pensacola Bay is the home of American Magic and the heart of this program," said Giovanni Pomati, CEO of Nautor Swan. "We'll base the fleet there, build boats there, and drive technical innovation in collaboration with American Magic's world-class engineering team."
"This is about more than just racing," added Hutchinson. "It's a platform for performance, growth, and a new chapter in U.S. sailing, one where top-tier design meets grassroots development and opportunity."
"This project has been years in the making, and it brings together everything that makes sailing special: skilled people, great boats, and a shared vision to push the sport forward," said Michetti.
