Celebrating 21 years at Bayliss Boatworks

by Bayliss Boatworks 2 Apr 2023 11:35 PDT

April 15th marks 21 years of boat building for Bayliss Boatworks as a company. Entering this new decade, we can't help but to look back and see all that has been accomplished on our ever-growing campus in Wanchese, NC.  34 new construction builds have been delivered, countless boatyard customers have passed through our slips, and our initial team of seven has grown to 115 strong. We appreciate all the support from our owners, captains, employees, families and friends that have gotten us to where we are today. Our focus has now shifted to our future endeavors of boatyard expansion and progressing ourselves in every way possible.

Sequentis really began to take shape last month. Recently, our team installed the cabin/flybridge on the 60' walkaround. The cabin/flybridge, featuring a bench seat forward, was secured in place and Sequentis moved back into the make-ready bay. Since the install, our exterior carpentry crew has glassed the inside of the cabin and walkaround area. Our paint team also primed the interior hull sides, and the toe rail and pitch bait lids have been installed. Next, our guys look forward to beginning the interior buildout.

Max Bet is filling up! Last month she made the move over to her new home at the main shop, where our exterior carpentry crews have gone to work! The hullside chases have been installed and the carlins are being set in place. Our team is currently setting up the interior walls, and next month our mechanical crews will be busy installing the aft fuel tank, Seakeeper 18 and cabin.

The first major project milestone occured for Bayliss 75' in March. Our hull carpentry crew installed the final plank on the hull, known as the 'whiskey plank'. After the celebratory whiskey plank, our guys removed the screws and golf tees, then sanded the hull. The sea chests have been cut and glassed and the engine vents are ready for installation soon!
