The latest yachting industry figures for Italy were presented to the us along with those of the 62nd Genoa International Boat Show, followed by the global launch of its 63rd edition (21-26 September 2023).

In taking part in the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show (26-30 October) the Italian Trade Agency and Italian Marine Industry Association also sponsored a delegation of Italian companies to support and develop business development and networking opportunities for industry operators.

As part of the event, The Italian Marine Industry Association and Italian Trade Agency, in partnership with the Consulate General of Italy in Miami, held an event to present to the US market the latest performance figures for the Italian yachting industry along with a preview of the 63rd Genoa International Boat Show, scheduled to take place from 21st to 26th September 2023.

The presentation kicked off with a speech by the Head of the Italian Marine Industry Association's Market Research and Intelligence Department, Stefano Pagani Isnardi, entitled 'The Italian Yachting Industry: global excellence'.

These latest figures describing the industry, as presented at the 62nd Genoa International Boat Show in September, show how 2021 turned out to be the year with the highest turnover increase ever recorded for the Italian yachting sector, with a growth of +31.1% compared to the previous year, a value of 6.1 billion.

"Ours is a sector in which Italy is a world leader," stated Pagani. "We demonstrate a strong propensity for exports, with an export rate of 88% of national yachting units production. The Italian yachting industry sees the US as the number one export destination market for Italian shipyards, worth 573 million and representing a 16.4% share of exports which reached an all-time high of 3.37 billion in March 2022.

We are world leaders in the production of superyachts (with 523 yachts under construction out of a total of 1024, which represents over 50% of global orders) and market leaders in the maxi RIB, components and equipment segments."

Following this, I Saloni Nautici's Sales Manager Alessandro Campagna presented the record-breaking results of the 62nd Genoa International Boat Show, held in September, and launched the upcoming 63rd edition, with a focus on what innovations the 2023 event will have to offer.

Alessandro Campagna, Sales Manager of I Saloni Nautici: "Genoa's 62nd International Boat Show was an important edition, with 103,812 visitors (a +10.7% increase compared to 2021), 998 brands showcased, over 1,000 boats on display, 4,463 sea trials carried out, 168 new products presented, and 35 countries represented. The organisers are already hard at work for the 63rd edition, which will take place within a location that continues to evolve, that of the new Waterfront project, designed by world-renowned architect Renzo Piano. The project, scheduled to be completed by 2024, will give the Genoa International Boat Show a cutting-edge exhibition area on land and will provide 200 more berths as early as 2023."

The international initiatives of the Italian Marine Industry Association and Italian Trade Agency will continue with the organisation of a delegation of Italian companies who will join the Italian Pavilion at the METSTRADE in Amsterdam (15-17 November 2022), the global exhibition dedicated to businesses operating across the boating components and equipment industry.
