After winning first in class and second in the Gibbs Lighthouse Division of this year's Newport Bermuda Race, the Sun Fast 3300, ALCHEMIST, is racing home in the inaugural Bermuda Short-Handed Return sponsored by the New York Yacht Club.
Sara Stone and Cat Hunt, represent the only all-female team out of the 18 boats on the race course.
"We're really excited to be able to support this dynamic duo for this exciting race," says Glenn Walters of Bluenose Yacht Sales who led the team on the race to Bermuda.
At just 29 years old, Sara Stone is no stranger to ocean racing having just completed the Newport Bermuda Race as a coach/navigator for the MudRatz Youth Sailing Team aboard SPITFIRE (the first youth team to cross the line!). Stone is a professional sailor having raced in a wide variety of boats including 49ers, M32s, T52s and Class 40s.
Cat Hunt, just 23, is a British Short-handed offshore sailor who holds the world record for the fastest circumnavigation of Ireland by two people and has an extensive resume of offshore races including a 2nd place finish in the 2019 RORC Transatlantic Race.
With an overall length of just 33'2", ALCHEMIST is the smallest boat of the fleet but has consistently proven to be one of the mightiest as well, having repeatedly finished first in class in a variety of major races around the world, especially in the short-handed divisions.
The Bermuda Short-Handed Return started on Sunday, June 26th. You can track Sara and Cat's progress as they make their way across the 635 miles of open ocean by visiting HERE.
Good luck Sara and Cat! Be safe, sail fast! We are with you!
